Germany Travel Tips: |
Restaurants and Bars -When you order water in a restaurant or bar you will receive carbonated water and you must pay for it. You can request tap water, it will most likely be straight from the sink, and you may or may not have to pay for it. |
| - you will not be seated at any restaurant, you find the table you prefer and sit down. When tipping the Water/Waitress keep in mind that in Germany the waiters/waitresses get paid more than in the states. A two or three EUR tip for very good service is considered good. | |
| Miscellaneous | |
- In the supermarkets you have to bag your things by yourself, there
is no one to bag. You can purchase plastic bags at the check out counter or take one in yourself. Be sure you have a one EUR piece on you as well so you can use a rolling cart if needed.
- On sunday everything is closed! Except restaurants, bars, gas
stations and shops at the main train station and bigger airports.
- During the week, the shops close at 8:00 p.m. at the latest.
- Public phones are very rare in Germany. If you find one they
only take telephone cards. You can buy a telephone card in different shops,
for example, "T-Punkt", "Telekom", "Post" and
"Vodafone" or go to an internet cafe.
| - "Bad" in front of a towns name does not mean that the people or the city is bad, for example "Bad Homburg", this means that the city is designated a healthy area with very clean air and water. | |

| to U. K. - 0044 | |
| to Australia - 0061 | |
